Salt Therapy (Halotherapy) FAQ
What is Salt Therapy?
Salt therapy, or halotherapy, is a holistic treatment where you breathe in micronized dry salt particles in a specially designed room. It helps improve respiratory and skin conditions, boosts the immune system, and reduces stress.
How Does Salt Therapy Work?
Dry salt particles are dispersed into the air and inhaled into the respiratory system. These particles attract and remove foreign substances, reduce inflammation, and kill bacteria.
Is Salt Therapy Safe for Children?
Yes, it is safe for children, who often respond quickly to the treatment. However, consulting with a child’s doctor before starting any new therapy is advised.
How Long is a Typical Session?
A typical session in our salt booth lasts about 10 minutes, and a session in our salt suite is 40 minutes. Both sessions are balanced to allow enough time for the salt particles present to be inhaled and absorbed.
What Should I Wear During a Session?
Wear comfortable clothing. Salt particles may stick to your clothing, especially darker colors. We recommend guests go barefoot in our salt suite to enjoy the grounding sensation of our himalayan salt sand floor.
How Often Should I Visit for Salt Therapy?
The frequency depends on your goals and condition. For general wellness, one session per week is beneficial. For specific conditions, more frequent sessions may be recommended.
Are There Any Side Effects?
Salt therapy is generally safe with no known side effects. Some might feel a slight dryness in the mouth or throat, which can be alleviated by drinking water.
Can I Bring Snacks or Drinks to My Session?
To maintain the purity of the salt environment, avoid bringing snacks or drinks into the session. You can enjoy refreshments before or after your session.
Is Salt Therapy Effective for Respiratory Conditions?
Yes, it helps alleviate symptoms of asthma, allergies, bronchitis, and COPD by reducing inflammation and clearing mucus.
What Should I Expect During My First Session?
You’ll be guided to a comfortable seating area in the salt room to relax, breathe deeply, and enjoy the calming environment. The Community Salt Suite (Adult) sessions are designed to be peaceful and rejuvenating, while the Community Salt Suite (Kid-Friendly) sessions are more like a fun beach day with the family.
How do you handle germs and cleaning?
Salt has natural anti-bacterial and anti-microbial properties, which help control germs. Additionally, we thoroughly wipe down our salt booth between each guest session. In our salt suite, we clean the recliners after every session and regularly rake the salt floor to maintain a fresh and clean environment.
What Should I Wear?
We recommend loose, comfortable clothing. After the session, you might notice a faint trace of salt on your lips and a slight taste of salt on your tongue. Any salt on your clothing can easily be brushed off.
Will It Sting My Eyes? Do I Need to Take Out My Contacts?
No, it won’t sting your eyes and there’s no need to remove contacts. Modern salt therapy is similar to a windy day by the ocean.
How Early Should I Arrive?
First-time clients should plan on arriving 10-15 minutes early to check in and get oriented. Returning guests should allow enough time to be settled in their chairs by the session’s start time. Late entry is not allowed once the session starts.
Are There Any Concerns Regarding the Intake of Too Much Salt?
Concerns about salt intake are usually dietary. Dry salt therapy involves inhalation, where micro salt particles are minimal and pose no health risk.
Is Salt Therapy Safe for My Infant?
Yes, we’ve had infants as young as 5 days benefit from salt therapy. Consult with a medical professional for any specific concerns and feel free to step out of the session early if necessary.
Will I Feel Different After Just One Session?
You might notice a difference after one session, such as productive coughing or sinus drainage, indicating the therapy is working. Many also report feeling relaxed and enjoying better sleep.
What Kind of Salt Do You Use in Your Therapies? Is It Tested for Purity?
We use medical-grade Sodium Chloride, certified to comply with various standards and tested for purity with no additives.
Is There a Difference Between a Salt Room and a Salt Cave?
Salt rooms provide dry salt therapy in man-made environments, either passive (mimicking salt caves) or active (using halogenerators). Our Salt Suite is an active salt room.
Can I Use Electronics in the Community Salt Suite?
We request respect for the quiet and relaxation of fellow guests. Lockers are available for personal belongings, and electronics should be on ‘silent’.
Infrared Sauna FAQ
What is an Infrared Sauna?
An infrared sauna uses infrared heaters to emit light, which is absorbed by the skin and cells to heat the body directly. Unlike traditional saunas that heat the air, infrared saunas penetrate deeper into the skin, providing various health benefits.
What are the Benefits of Infrared Sauna Sessions?
Infrared saunas can help with detoxification, relaxation, weight loss, pain relief, improved circulation, and skin purification. The deep heat helps relax muscles and joints, promotes better sleep, and reduces stress.
How Long is a Typical Infrared Sauna Session?
A session at Just Breathe is 45 minutes. It’s okay to step in and out of the sauna booth if you’re new to infrared saunas and gradually increase the time as your body adapts.
What Should I Wear During a Session?
Our private sauna rooms give you the flexibility to dress as you prefer. Many guests opt for comfortable, loose clothing for after the session, while others bring a swimsuit. We provide towels to sit on and to use for wiping off sweat.

Frequency depends on individual goals and health conditions. For general wellness, 2-3 sessions per week are beneficial. For specific health goals, consult with a healthcare provider for personalized recommendations.
How Hot Does an Infrared Sauna Get?
The temperature in our infrared saunas typically ranges between 150°F to 170°F. Infrared saunas are effective and beneficial at temperatures above 140°F. They operate at a lower temperature than traditional saunas but provide deeper heat penetration over a longer session.

Infrared sauna use is generally safe. Some people might experience mild dehydration, lightheadedness, or overheating. It’s crucial to stay hydrated and listen to your body.
Is Infrared Sauna Safe for Everyone?
While generally safe, pregnant women, individuals with cardiovascular conditions, or those on medication should consult with a healthcare provider before using an infrared sauna.
